Some pairings were destined to be. Beer and pizza. Brad and Angelina. Chris Brown and a restraining order. And artist Betsy Bret Harte and sociologist Mary Kay Zeeb, who knew each other for years before realizing how much their work overlapped. Their first official collaborative exhibit, titled “WORD,” visually depicts emotion through photographs of family members and friends mouthing the letters “l-o-v-e.” Hey, it’s a recession here, so why not show anger or depression? “Love is a space for everything: hate, anger, depression, fear, joy,” say Harte and Zeeb (in unison, natch). “It has the power to be both the great connector and the great dissolver of all things that cause conflict.”
While at eye lounge, also check out new contemporary oil paintings by Brian Boner, designer of the graphic bird mural at monOrchid Gallery.
Tuesdays-Saturdays. Starts: March 20. Continues through April 11, 2009
