There you have it -- Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio actually thinks the President of the United States got into the White House using a forged birth certificate.

Yes, the year is 2012, and yes, New Times and several dozen other media outlets just listened to more than two hours of a "birther" conspiracy theory facilitated by Joe Arpaio.

Not only is the president's birth certificate a forgery, Arpaio explained, but his Selective Service card is also a fake, and his real immigration records have been hidden or destroyed as part of this conspiracy.

"A six-month-long investigation conducted by my Cold Case Posse had led me to believe, there is probable cause to believe, that President Barack Obama's long-form birth certificate released by the White House on April, 27, 2011, is a computer-generated forgery," Arpaio said at a press conference this afternoon. "I do not believe that it is a scan of an original 1961 paper document, as represented by the White House when the long-form birth certificate was made public."

Of course, Arpaio brought the "birther" gang along with him, including king "birther" Jerome Corsi, State Representative Carl Seel, and Cold Case Posse leader Mike Zullo, as well as a unicorn, six leprechauns, Bigfoot, a gang of space aliens, and one chupacabra featured on the homepage of KPHO.

Zullo showed off some homemade videos for about 20 minutes, explaining the "Photoshop" job done on the birth certificate -- which is old news for the "birther" crowd.

The Selective Service card is a fraud because of a postal stamp, according to Zullo, and when the "investigators" went to hunt for Immigration and Naturalization Service records, the entire week of Obama's birth was missing.

Corsi also blabbed the "birther" speak for a few minutes, saying one of the solid pieces of proof he has involves the mother of Bill Ayers introducing "a retired government employee" to Obama.

Corsi says that Ayers' mother introduced Obama as a "foreign student," and this government employee is willing to go on the record about it.

Now, Arpaio says this is just the tip of the iceberg for the "criminal investigation" into the forged documents.

There's a "person of interest" in the forgeries, but that name hasn't been released.

Arpaio made it very clear, multiple times, that he is "not accusing the sitting President of the United States of committing a crime."

He's just saying that there's a man in the White House who was elected president, and that gentleman has falsely portrayed himself as an American-born citizen by using several false federal documents to con his way into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Arpaio's calling for a "bi-partisan congressional investigation" into the matter, and claimed, "I don't need this for politics, I guarantee you."
