The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office just confirmed that three sheriff's deputies have been arrested in connection with a drug- and human-smuggling operation.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio and County Attorney Bill Montgomery plan to brief the media on the busts at 3:30 this afternoon.

According to the MCSO, "Arpaio will discuss a year long investigation started by his office into a drug- and human-smuggling operation involving illegal aliens with ties to Mexico which has resulted in numerous arrests today including three Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Officers."

Earlier today, local TV news outlets showed aerial images of the Goodyear SWAT Team assisting sheriff's deputies serve a warrant at a home near 69th Avenue and Pierce Street.

According to ABC 15, another home was seen with crime tape blocking off the street at 69th and Cypress, and a search warrant has reportedly been served at 59th Avenue and Latham.

We'll be at the sheriff's press conference this afternoon. Check back to Valley Fever for all the details.
