You don’t have to be a dedicated katsina doll collector to visit Heard Museum’s Katsina Doll Marketplace, chat up a few of the artists, or take a couple home – just expect some competition.
The 11th annual event will bring more than 100 Hopi katsina doll carvers to the Heard’s Steele Auditorium on Saturday, April 14, to show their latest contemporary and traditional dolls. This year, Arthur Holmes, Jr.’s “Chili Runner” is the featured doll, and will be raffled off at 3 p.m.
Others attending include Hopi carver Neil David Sr., author Dane Hart, and musicians who will take the stage at 11:30 a.m.
Sat., April 14, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., 2012
