After the extended Halloween weekend hangover — chock full of too many S’Mores, wine, asskickingly strong microbrews, nachos, and various fried things — something light sounded appealing. I’m so lacking in vitamins these days. So I immediately thought of Sapna Cafe.
They have a new menu item there, a grilled eggplant salad that’s big enough to call lunch. It’s a pile of fresh Maya’s greens topped with couscous, chickpeas, wonderful chunks of grilled eggplant soaked in Moroccan dressing, diced red onions, and cilantro. I scarfed it down along with a glass of Sapna’s excellent homemade orangeade, which is tinged with orange blossom essence. Like nectar.
Have you been there yet? The dining room is tiny but so refreshing, with big, sunny windows, pretty photographs along the wall, and fresh flowers. A welcome break from the workday.
