Today in Found at the Border: A Mexican woman tried to cross the border in Nogales with five pounds of heroin in her underwear, according to authorities.

Cristina Luna-Ramos, 38, tried to drive through the port of entry about 11 a.m. on Wednesday. Officers reported seeing something that’s never good news in a woman’s underwear — a “hard bulge.”

Court documents state that the bulge, in addition to Luna’s nervous behavior, led to her receiving a secondary search from U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers.

Luna insisted she had nothing on her, but after a pat-down, authorities recovered about five pounds of heroin underneath her clothes.

According to a CBP spokeswoman, the heroin was distributed among four packages — two stuffed in the woman’s bra, and two more in her groin area.

The heroin, and the woman’s vehicle, were seized by authorities, and she was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.

She faces a charge of heroin possession with intent to distribute.
