On the night before Thanksgiving, local musician Kevin Daly died after a battle with brain cancer.
A Celebration of Kevin Daly is scheduled for 5 p.m. on December 28 at Yucca Tap Room, encouraging people to gather and commemorate this beloved Arizona music legend.
His impact, not only as a musician or hot rod enthusiast, but also as a generous, kind person and a friend, was so profound and wide-ranging that an outpouring of sadness and love flooded social media.
The sheer volume of posts that appeared almost immediately after his death, in various online forums, is a true testament to the breadth of his connections and the number of people who considered him a friend.

People in Arizona and beyond told their stories through pictures, digging into their photo albums and posting photographs of Daly from his early days to more recent times, including a slew of shots of him on stage in one of his many bands, to just photos of them sharing time with the man and providing context about what fun antics were behind the giant grin on Kevin’s face.

The event won’t be an all-nighter. It will wrap up around 10 p.m., and from start to finish, the stage will be graced with a lineup of bands featuring people who have collaborated with Daly in various bands over the years. DJ Hot Rod Ron, who is instrumental in organizing this celebration for his treasured friend, will keep things rocking throughout the night.
Daly’s Arizona musical legacy is extensive. The Hoods, Grant and the Geezers, Hellfire, the Trophy Husbands, Grave Danger and Kevin Daly’s Chicken & Waffles all featured his renowned singing and guitar-playing skills.
