When we last put the spotlight on 100 creative forces in Phoenix, it was no secret there were more than 100 individuals who were making waves in the local arts community. So in celebration of our Best of Phoenix issue, we’re profiling 100 more. Welcome (back) to 100 Creatives.
Eddie Sparr describes himself as a dark surreal artist who uses found objects as his main medium. He was born in LA, lived in Colorado, where he received an undergrad in graphic arts, and now lives in Cave Creek.
He says he’s currently taking a break from art to take care of his 12-year-old son who has cancer. “When he’s is better, I plan to get back to creating my art as soon as I can,” says Sparr
I came to Phoenix with … my wife and two sons in the summer of 2004.
I make art because … I feel like I have to.
I’m most productive when … I am inspired. I can work non stop if I like
what I am doing.
My inspiration wall is full of … skeletons and HR Geiger artwork.
I’ve learned the most from … trial and error.
Good work should always … look finished and provoke a feeling in the viewer.
The Phoenix creative scene could use more … surreal artwork venues.
