Art walks are more often about people watching and shenanigans and less about the actual art. We’re here to guide you through both. Presenting our very own Field Guide — an evolving guide to art walks around town.
From time to time, we’ll introduce some of our favorite spots and dish out some insider information. If you have any tips or tricks, share ’em in the comments section.
More First Friday hints and details after the jump …
On the MapIngrid Wells, Molly Mendoza, Alex Empty and Taylor Ryan @ eye loungeFour local artists are showcasing their work at eye lounge this month — in very different fashions. Molly Mendoza took Sharpies to the wall of the gallery’s “project room” in her large-scale installation, “Suburbia Wildlife”, tattoo artists Alex Empty and Taylor Ryan created prints, paintings and furniture in their first gallery show “Interdependent”, and painter Ingrid Wells hung her latest series (and last work before she moves to San Francisco), called “colors of separation”. The artists will host an opening tonight at 6 p.m. Eye lounge is at 419 E. Roosevelt St.

– For some quick shopping (other than in the galleries), check out Indie Arthouse on Grand Ave, the GROWop, and Kooky Krafts.
– The Phoenix Art Museum has great parking (and great art, go figure). On-street parking is limited along Roosevelt Street between First and Seventh streets (Note: meters downtown are still checked until 8 p.m.). Or if you can nab a spot, check out the free street parking on Grand Avenue …
– If you missed it, our eleventh limited-edition jackalope sticker, designed by Anton Anger, will be making its debut tonight! (Find a few at each location on the map.)
Happy Friday!
