A text blast and social media announcement late Tuesday morning delivered big comedy news. Jamie Foxx will be doing three nights of comedy shows at Stand Up Live in downtown Phoenix — next week.

The Oscar-winning film and TV star will perform Tuesday, March 10, through Thursday, March 12. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. each evening.

Foxx’s big break came in the early 1990s as a cast member on sketch comedy show “In Living Color.” The splash he made led to his own sitcom, “The Jamie Foxx Show,” which ran for 100 episodes in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Editor's Picks

On the movie side, Foxx’s first cinematic appearance was in 1992’s “Toys” with Robin Williams, followed by roles in high-profile projects such as “Ali” and “Any Given Sunday.” Foxx’s career high point (to date) was 2004, when he starred as legendary musician Ray Charles in “Ray” and as a cab driver hired by hitman Tom Cruise in “Collateral.” In 2005, Foxx was nominated for Best Actor at the Academy Awards for “Ray” and Best Supporting Actor for “Collateral”; he lost the latter but won the former.

The album version of his 2024 Netflix special, “What Had Happened Was…” was nominated for Best Comedy Album at the 2026 Grammy Awards as well as Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television at the 2025 Golden Globes.

Before you start planning your angles for social media content, note that Foxx’s Stand Up Live sets are phone-free experiences, according to the venue.

“Upon arrival at the venue, all phones, smart watches and accessories will be secured in individual Yondr pouches that will be opened at the end of the event,” reads the Stand Up Live website. “Anyone seen using a device (phone, smart watch or accessories) during the performance will be escorted out of the venue.”

Tickets are $69.90, and every person in the room must also purchase a minimum of two beverages. All shows are for guests ages 21 and over.

Stand Up Live is located at 50 W. Jefferson St. For more information or to buy tickets, visit the Stand Up Live event page.
