Bruce Campbell may (or may not) approve of Jeremiah Gratza’s new nightlife event Boomstick.

A few weeks ago, the hipster scenester/indie concert promoter tweeted at the cult movie star and asked his permission to use the phrase “boomstick,” which Campbell used to describe a shotgun in the Evil Dead sequel Army of Darkness

Gratza says he thought it would be a “cool idea” to get Campbell’s endorsement of his new dance night, which launches on Thursday, October 6, at the new Crescent Ballroom.

“I just wanted to see if he’d approve of the night,” Gratza says. He also cordially invited the actor to come check out the night when it debuts next month.

Campbell never tweeted back or accepted the invite, but that’s not stopping Gratza from going forward with Boomstick at the soon-to-be-opened downtown Phoenix concert venue, which is expected to become a major nightlife hotspot.

The weekly shindig will feature a rotating cast of some of the Valley’s most notorious party instigators and DJ favorites, including Sean Watson, World Famous Rani G., and Sophia Gunn. Naturally, hipster icon William Fucking Reed will also be in the mix.

Gratza also said that the event will feature all the trappings of a hip dance night, including roaming photographers, party favors, and drink specials.

Boomstick will take place every Thursday at Crescent Ballroom, 308 North Second Avenue, starting on October 6. Click here for more info.
