If you’re in the
market for cow skulls, Day of the Dead skeletons, hanging chili pepper
bundles, and ceramic pots galore, Mercado Mexico is your jam.
The
indoor/outdoor store offers row upon row of Mexican imported items at
extremely reasonable prices – especially when you bring a wad of cash (if you catch my drift).
It’s
located on the west side of Avenida Del Yaqui, the main drag in
Guadalupe. The small town is approximately one square mile was founded
around the turn of the century by Native Americans (Yaqui). Today, the
town has a Native American and Hispanic population of about 5,500.

On Catholic holidays (particularly December 12, the Feast Day of Our
Lady of Guadalupe) don’t expect to be able to drive through – the town
shuts down the Avenida Del Yaqui for some religious parades and celebrations.
