Who knew Phoenix had some many dinosaur fans?
Arizona’s original dinosaur fan convention DinoCon comes to Phoenix Center for the Arts on Saturday, August 2, from 3 to 9 p.m., and sadly it’s not just these larger than life creatures that have gone extinct. Advanced tickets for the one-day convention have sold out online. But never fear, patrons of the prehistoric, because a limited number tickets will still be available at the door on the day of.
And we have a feeling this is one convention your not going to want to miss.

The second annual DinoCon will feature a number of events geared toward adults and appropriate for those 12 and older, including panels, demos, vendor booths, and hands-on workshops.
Highlights of this year’s convention include a special appearance from Sedona special effects artist, Michael Trcic, who will give a behind the scenes look at his creation of the T-Rex used in Jurassic Park.
Additional experts will be on hand to discuss other dino-related cameos in pop culture including tabletop games, steampunk, and movies such as Godzilla, The Land Before Time, and Pacific Rim.
Of course these cinematic creatures and their prehistoric prototypes will go head to head with the help of geologist Melanie Dolberg. And later, their human geek counterparts will do the same as Andrea Beesley hosts the Phoenix Ultimate Geek Smackdown: Turbo Dinosaur Edition.
In addition the scheduled events, visitors can purchase locally-made dinosaur art and merchandise at Velociraptor Vendor Hall or participate in DIY dinosaur-style crafts.
A limited number of tickets will be available at door for $5 on the day of the event. Following the convention, there will be a DinoCon after-party at FilmBar with a special screening of the B movie Adventures in Dinosaur City.
