The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $15,000 by August 9.
Looking for something to do this week? “Night Owl” is a quick guide to special nights at bars and clubs around town. We’ll give you a few hints re: cover, dress code, music and atmosphere. Friday night marks “Sticky Fingers” at Bar Smith.
Sticky Fingers is the marquee indie dance night in Phoenix. DJ William “Fucking” Reed started the dance party last summer at Rips but it’s been going down at Bar Smith every Friday since November.
The beats come courtesy of local DJs such as DJ Radar, DJ Austin Head, Reed himself and plenty of others. Though larger acts such as Database and Flosstradamus have been headlining the evening lately.
Check out a full slideshow here and our our impressions after the jump…
The Time: Every Friday, 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.
The Place: 130 E. Washington St., Phoenix.
What we loved: The fog machines, constantly changing shades of neon and huge crowd gave Bar Smith a party atmosphere that could be seen and heard from far beyond the confines of the bar.
What we didn’t love: What’s up with the drink specials only lasting until 11?
Would we go back? Most Definitely.
