One new idea for every day in 2011. We’re talking big, small, local,
international, in action and on the drawing board. Here’s today’s —
what’s yours?
Dean and Darren have been bringing their crazy ideas to live since they were kids in a small town in Oregon.
And while they’re a little bit older, in the much bigger town of Brooklyn, they’re still sticking to their first names and cranking out odd community projects, including their latest: the mobile pool party.
“The mobile pool party brings together crazy bicycle hackery, blistery
hot Brooklyn afternoons, and watery fun,” they write. “We’ll be rolling into various
Brooklyn neighborhoods, firing up the jambox and BBQ, and inviting
passersby to join us for a dip, a dog, or just to hang out and enjoy the
breeze.”
For a mobile pool party, though, the two need to make a mobile pool. They’re planning on welding a trailer to a pool form and attaching bikes — all while avoiding permits, hardware, and hopefully, handcuffs.
The two are no strangers to party chaos; they’re the brains behind bike mayhem, a number of street art projects in New York, and the first ROFLCon.
Their goal is to bring (read: bike) the pool to neighborhoods throughout Brooklyn and give the neighbors a short escape from the summer heat during June and July.
Darren and Dean are raising funds for the equipment through Kickstarter. Read more about their project here.
