Since there’s really no better accessory than a cocktail in your hand, each week brings you a tasty adult beverage from one of our favorite drinking establishments, complete with recipe.
This week: The Whiskey Sangria at Carly’s Bistro
Going out in downtown Phoenix can still be hit or miss. But when all else fails, Carly’s Bistro prevails when we’re itchin’ for a hip city-kid experience. Between the late-night food, cool cocktails, and weekly live music, we can always count on Carly’s.
The Whiskey Sangria is a hit with the hipsters, with a few favorite liquors and mixers, topped with an obscure, upside-down cherry in the straw.

(Recipe after the jump.)
Ingredients:1 1/4 oz. Whiskey
3 oz. red wine
1 1/2 oz. raspberry liquor
1/2 oz. Orangina
splash of sprite
maraschino cherries
In a large, footed sangria glass, combine all ingredients (except sprite) over ice. Cover the glass with a shaker and shake contents like a really hip Polaroid picture. Top off with a splash of sprite and garnish glass with a lemon, lime, and a handful of maraschinos (don’t forget the and obscure little guy inside the straw).
