Celebrating Donald Trump’s 79th birthday with Arizona art

It’s a certain president’s birthday. Instead of a parade, we’d like to mark the day with a collection of art.

(Editor's note: This article originally ran as a slideshow in 2019, but in 2025, with protests happening across the country and Trump, back in the Oval Office, celebrating his birthday on the same day as a military parade, we can't think of a better time to bring it back. Enjoy.)

As Donald Trump celebrates his 79th birthday on June 14, we're taking a look back at some of the best Trump-inspired art we've seen around the Valley in recent years. One artist painted Trump reclining in a pink bathrobe. Another gave him a mustache with horrific historical overtones. Still other Arizona artists portrayed the president as a felted troll doll, a wide-mouthed pinata or a sinister court jester. But whatever the form, it's clear that the artistic community has plenty of opinions about the commander-in-chief. Here's the way local creatives, and a few others, see Trump — in all his narcissistic glory. Happy birthday, Mr. President.
