In our corner of the world, we're stressing over the price of eggs and nervously watching gas prices rise.
Not so at The Bergen, where we're guessing frugality isn't much of a priority. In fact, living at the luxury apartment complex at 44th Street and Camelback Road will set you back some serious change: from $8,000 a month up to a staggering $20,000 a month.
Who the heck is renting these places?
“This property is for an affluent couple or home seller, coming out of Arcadia or maybe Paradise Valley that doesn’t need all the space anymore," says Sean Zimmerman, president of real estate brokerage Compass Arizona, the exclusive agent for The Bergen Phoenix. "They spend a lot of times out of state, they want a high level of service (and are) accustomed to having finer things." He adds that some residents are using The Bergen as an ultra-luxe landing pad to figure out where they'll move to next.
“It’s not a demographic, it’s a value graphic," adds Val Roberts, an associate broker with Compass Arizona. "It cuts across age and focuses on lifestyle. There’s a hotel lifestyle with privacy and with access to the hottest locations. Walkability is huge this area is ideal for walking. This corner has really evolved; I’ve been (in Arizona) 20 years now. Renting here versus buying it gives them the lower price point to have the same custom home, finishes and amenities in a desirable location.”
The Bergen is a project by StreetLights Residential out of Dallas. Its patrician beauty sits next to the ultra-trendy Global Ambassador hotel ready to lure in high-dollar renters with its list of amenities.
And what a list it is: 24-hour valet and concierge service. Electric car chargers. A pool with cabanas, outdoor fireplaces and a hot tub. A pet relief area and spa. A wine and whiskey room with space for private wine storage. A fitness center, a library, a bicycle repair station, a chef's kitchen with private dining space — you get the idea.
And that's just the building. The apartments themselves start at two bedrooms and 2.5 baths and about 1,600 square feet to three bedrooms and 3.5 baths, and over 3,100 square feet. Inside the apartments, things are just as fancy; homes (when they're this pricey, you call them homes, not units) boast features such as high ceilings, quartz countertops, Sub-Zero wine refrigerators, Sonos Bluetooth sound systems in each living room and automatic blackout shades in the bedrooms.
It'd be nice, sure, but if it's out of your budget, here's a look inside The Bergen Phoenix.
