Looking for somewhere to escape the summertime heat in the Valley over the next few months? If spending a couple of hours catching a flick in air-conditioned comfort sounds good, Harkins Theatres has you — and your kids — covered.

The local cinema chain’s annual Summer Movie Fun series kicks off in early June at each of its 15 theaters in Arizona. Eight weeks of screenings are planned and will feature a variety of family-friendly blockbusters and favorites.

The lineup includes such animated flicks as “Transformers One,” “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” and Oscar-nominated tearkjerker “The Wild Robot.”

Tickets are $2 per person for each screening. A season pass is $8 per person is also available.

Showings begin at 9:45 a.m. with movies playing weekdays through Friday, July 25. More information about Harkins’ Summer Movie Fun series is available here.

Harkins Awards members who purchase a season pass can also get a voucher for 50% off a Kids Combo, which includes popcorn, fruit snacks and a beverage.
