OK, so you're in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. Whether it's slow-moving fiends a la "Night of the Living Dead," the undead track stars of "28 Days Later" or the aggressive fungus people of "The Last of Us," the danger is real and you're going to need a place to ride out the worst of the chaos.
Fortunately, a new report says that one of the best places to stay safe while the world crumbles is right in our backyard.
Today's random clickbait study, produced by sports betting website FlashPicks, ranked all 30 NFL stadiums according to how good of a refuge they would be in the event of a "'Last of Us'-style zombie apocalypse."
(We'd like to take a moment to point out that technically, the monsters in "The Last of Us" are not zombies in the traditional sense. Rather, they are living creatures infected with a fungus that takes over their bodies and causes them to mutate. But we digress.)
Based on 10 survival-related factors, State Farm Stadium is the safest NFL stadium to be in when the end is nigh, with a survival rate of 74.7%.
Some of the factors include the stadium’s proximity to the city center and the population of the local area; security features, such as the number of large and small entry points; the number of tiers and sections; and whether the stadium has a roof, or even a retractable roof. Additional factors looked at sustained survival, such as whether the field was suitable for growing crops and the stadium’s proximity to a natural water source.
State Farm is "one of 15 NFL stadiums where the field is capable of growing crops, making it an ideal stronghold for long-term survival," according to the report. "State Farm Stadium also has several zombie-proof features, including a hefty six tiers, only five large entry points and a retractable roof, which will prevent any zombies from breaching over the walls."
The rest of the top 10 are:
2. Lambeau Field, Green Bay Packers, 65.8%
3. GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City Chiefs, 64.7%
4. M&T Bank Stadium, Baltimore Ravens, 64.4%
5. Huntington Bank Field, Cleveland Browns, 64.1%
6. Northwest Stadium, Washington Commanders, 63.4%
7. Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas Raiders, 61.9%
8. AT&T Stadium, Dallas Cowboys, 58.6%
9. Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis Colts, 57.9%
10. Acrisure Stadium, Pittsburgh Steelers, 57.9%
We regret to say you're out of luck if the zombie apocalypse starts when you're on a trip to Seattle; the Seahawks' Lumen Field received the lowest survival rate score in the study at just 39.9%.
So if the dead start to rise or we get attacked by mushroom-headed monsters, just head to the West Valley.
