WrestleMania, the Super Bowl of Wrestling, Coming to Glendale; Announcement Expected Tomorrow

We received an e-mail stating that World Wrestling Entertainment will be holding a press conference tomorrow afternoon at the stadium to announce a “major international event” occuring there in spring 2010 that will “draw visitors from around the world for five days of activities.” Although the e-mail doesn’t specifically identify the event (and only names the WWE in the subject line), we’re fairly certain it’s next year’s Wrestlemania 26. After all, the yearly grappling extravaganza and pay-per-view is the only such event that the WWE puts on during the spring. A similar press conference is held every year around this time announcing where WrestleMania is heading next.

What was most (maybe the only thing) memorable about last night’s Pac-10 slugfest between ASU and Southern Cal happened with about a minute left. USC head coach Tim Floyd (the oddly gesticulating gent in the photo) took such umbrage with a pivotal call against his squad that he felt compelled to whirl like…

NBA All-Star Game Swag: Eh, We’ve Seen Better

We’ve been known to pull one over on the public before — our spoof stories on Preserve A Life garnered fax orders for human taxidermy, and the Anna Nicole Smith secret love child story was picked up by major media outlets, including People, US Weekly, and TV’s Inside Edition. But this…
