Folks, the TV love just keeps on comin’ for Valley tastemakers. Air time for Sweet Republic and Paletas Betty happened over the last couple of weeks, Urban Cookies (OllieCake) announced they’ll be on Food Network’s Cupcake Wars, and now, Silvana Salcido Esparza, owner and chef of Barrio Cafe, is getting in on the action, too.
Esparza will be be featured on an upcoming episode of Food(ography), the show of cultural food treats hosted by Mo Rocca on the Cooking Channel. With the the show’s theme being Mexican, Esparza says she made chiles en nogada, a dish consisting of stuffed poblano chiles topped with a walnut-based cream sauce and pomegranate seeds.
“The taping was nine hours, and for an hour of that they had me ride my motorcycle up and down 16th Street,” Esparza tells me. “I didn’t get to meet Mo Rocca, though. He doesn’t go on location.”
See Esparza (and her motorcycle) on Tuesday, August 30, on the Cooking Channel’s Food(ography). Check your local listings for exact times and channel information.
