Diners with a craving for Brazilian food, drink, and even coffee have a new destination to try in Carvalho’s Brazilian Kitchen, which opened last month at 23623 North Scottsdale Road. The restaurant comes from husband and wife team Phil Marsteller and Ruth Carvalhos Marsteller, who lived in the Amazon for 18 years.
Carvalho’s will celebrate its grand opening this weekend with live music on Friday and Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. All meals will also come with a free caipirinha or a glass of sangria.

The restaurant serves a selection of classic Brazilian dishes including feijoada, which combines sausage, smoked meat, and black beans, and moqueca de peixe, a traditional fish stew. Diners can even wash down their food with Brazilian beers or a caipirinha, Brazil’s national cocktail that’s made with cachaça, sugar, and lime.
