Trader Joe’s has a cult following for a reason. Its freezer foods are easy dinner staples. Its prices on wine and cheese can’t be beat. And its seasonal snacks and treats cause cravings all year.

Now, West Valley residents have access to all these goodies at their very own location. Trader Joe’s opened in Goodyear on Friday.

The new grocery store is part of the rapidly growing GSQ shopping center at Bullard Avenue and McDowell Road. At 9,600 square feet, the new store has plenty of space for shoppers to peruse the aisles.

The GSQ mixed-use development spans a total of 150 acres and is designed to add a retail center for the Goodyear Civic Square. The area, which is home to a new city hall, public library, two-acre park and office space, is the city’s new downtown hub.

GSQ includes several restaurants that are already open, plus a host of new spots coming soon. The new Trader Joe’s store is the first location of the grocery chain in the city of Goodyear.

“Goodyear couldn’t be more thrilled that Trader Joe’s has chosen to come to our great city,” Goodyear Mayor Joe Pizzillo said in a press release. “This really is a dream come true for so many of our residents who’ve been asking for this unique grocer for many, many years.”

The store is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
