Portillo’s is opening a new restaurant in Chandler. But it won’t be just any hot dog spot – the chain has dubbed its new spot “the restaurant of the future.”
The incoming restaurant, planned for the corner of Ray Road and Interstate 10, will have a double drive-thru lane, pick-up shelves and a grab-and-go area. It will serve all of the Portillo’s staples, such as Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, char-grilled burgers and the chain’s famous chocolate cake.
Nationwide, Portillo’s has over 90 locations in 10 different states. The new location will be the chain’s ninth in Arizona and eighth in the metro Phoenix area. It joins other East Valley locations in Tempe, Gilbert and Queen Creek.
In Chandler, the new 6,250-square-foot restaurant will have room for 160 customers to enjoy its Chicago-style fare.
“Phoenix has been a great, welcoming market for Portillo’s as we continue our expansion in Arizona,” Portillo’s CEO Michael Osanloo said in a news release. “We’ve loved serving the Phoenix community our unrivaled Chicago street food, and we’re excited to provide even greater convenience to our guests in the Grand Canyon State with this newest restaurant in Chandler.”
While an exact date has not yet been announced, the new Chandler Portillo’s is scheduled to open in 2025.
