Don’t panic just yet.

According to a sign posted on the door, Noca is closed for “house cleaning.” But the cryptic note doesn’t give any details about when the restaurant will reopen — if at all.

We reached out to Noca/Nocawich owner Eliot Wexler for details about the unannounced closure. All he’ll say for now is that he’s having the pizza ovens removed from the restaurant.

During the summer months, Noca suspends dinner service and serves lunch only under its fast-causal sister concept’s name, Nocawich. Lunch service out of the restaurant at 3118 East Camelback Road is obviously suspended for now, but there are two other Nocawich locations — one at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport and another at US Airways Center in downtown Phoenix.

Noca opened in 2009 and was named one of the best new restaurants in the country by the James Beard Foundation. In February of this year, the restaurant re-opened for dinner service for the first time in months under young executive chef Adam Brown. Noca hadn’t offered dinner for months after the departure of chef Claudio Urciuoli.

We’ll keep you posted when we get more details about what Wexler has planned.
