Hungry for your early morning serving of food news, with no preservatives or additives?
Tomatoes! McClendon’s Family Farm has tomatoes. They’re Heirloom and they are going to be at Rancho Pinot this Wednesday for chef Chrysa Roberson’s “Tomato Fest” dinner at 6:30 p.m. The menu is shaping up nicely with a golden gazpacho, Chrysa’s “Death Row Tomatoes”(really?!), fried green tomatoes, and rock shrimp risotto with roasted tomato broth. Holy cow, it all sounds amazing. The McClendon family will be on hand to chat about the summer fruits and there will be deals on select wines from the Ranch cellar. $50++ per person. Reservations can be made by calling 480-367-8030.
More Tomatoes! Snatch up all the tomatoes you can find right now and roast them. Seriously. Drizzle those suckers with a little olive oil, sprinkle with cracked pepper and bake them for about 30 minutes. Cool them and then throw ’em in the freezer for tasty summer tomatoes year round.
