The wait is finally over. Reservations to dine at Arizona’s first Din Tai Fung location are now open.

Customers can snag a seat to taste the sought-after dumplings at the internationally beloved chain, which soft opens in Scottsdale on March 12.

During the soft opening phase, reservations are required at the Scottsdale Fashion Square restaurant. On April 20, the new eatery will celebrate its grand opening. From then onward, walk-ins, takeout and delivery will also be available.

The opening of Arizona’s first Din Tai Fung has been a long time coming. In August 2024, the news leaked from an earnings call from Macerich, the company that owns the mall. Rumors were confirmed and fans started to get excited for the arrival of the Taiwan-born chain.

The timeline for the Scottsdale restaurant started off squishy, and then the company confirmed they were targeting this April. What to expect at Arizona’s first Din Tai Fung

Din Tai Fung finds its home in a 10,000-square-foot space on the ground level of Scottsdale Fashion Square. The large restaurant has seating for 340 customers throughout its lantern-lit bar and upscale dining room. Customers can expect to see a tree rising above banquette seating with leather and golden velvet in the main dining area.

The Rockwell Group designed the space, which has a neutral palette of gold, cream and warm wood tones throughout. A signature of Din Tai Fung’s restaurants, there will be a window where customers can peek into the kitchen and watch expert chefs carefully folding neat dumplings.

The food menu features hot and cold appetizers, including a refreshing, savory cucumber salad and bowls of thick, hot and sour soup. When it comes to dumplings, there are three varieties of soup-filled xiao long bao, seven flavors of folded dumplings and three stuffed, fluffy bao options. There are also eight flavors of wontons, a variety of greens, noodle dishes and soups.

Signature cocktails pair perfectly, including the subtle pear lychee martini and tart yuzu margarita. Milk teas, iced and hot black and green teas and lemonades are also available. And make sure to leave room for dessert. The chocolate and mochi xiao long bao are a decadent and fun way to enjoy another course of delicious dumplings.

Din Tai Fung is also planning to open a second Valley location in Chandler in 2027.
