Located in Tempe’s lakeside development, The Watermark, Three Thirty Three made a splash when it opened in late 2024. The large restaurant is about more than just the Asian-inspired menu. Huge, curved LED screens hang overhead displaying colorful visuals, a live DJ sets the beat and frequently, performers roam throughout the dining room.

Now, the team behind the extravagant eatery is gearing up to open a second spot in Tempe.

Following the numerical theme, the new restaurant is named 212° Shabu Shabu, after the boiling point of water. It will focus on the Japanese cooking technique where meat is cooked in boiling broth at each table.

“212° Shabu Shabu is an interactive dining experience that brings the kitchen to you,” says John DeVries, CEO of Kaos Hospitality, the parent company behind both restaurants. “We want to educate our guests about the technique of ‘shabu shabu’ and encourage them to have fun while dipping and dunking delicious foods. There is no right or wrong way to ‘shabu.’ We’ll show you the traditional way and welcome you to eat however you want.”

First, customers will choose which broth they want, which is then brought to the table in a kettle. Then, customers can choose proteins, vegetables and noodles, which are cooked in the broth at built-in stoves at each table.

Keeping in line with the elevated experience at Three Thirty Three, 212° will upgrade the typical shabu shabu experience with premium proteins, including A5 Wagyu beef, toro fatty belly, Kurobuta pork, sashimi-grade salmon and black tiger shrimp. Other optional additions will include quail eggs, fish balls and lobster tail.

Not everything will be cooked in the broth, however. Customers will be able to snack on shrimp tempura eggrolls, chicken karaage, vegetable spring rolls and cucumber salad, and finish the meal on a sweet note with ube cheesecake, yuzu sorbet and other dessert options.

The drinks menu will include beer, wine and cocktails that take inspiration from around Asia, such as a mango and sticky rice cocktail and the Good Morning, Vietnam, a Vietnamese coffee espresso martini.
