After this Sunday’s dinner service, you’ll no longer be able to head to The Western in Scottsdale to dig into dishes such as brisket tacos and bacon burgers.

According to a press release, owners Tucker Woodbury and Charles Levy have decided to throw in the towel on the honky-tonk-themed restaurant/bar/music venue, which just wasn’t working despite being located in what’s supposed to be “The West’s Most Western Town.”

But don’t worry, the space won’t be empty for long. Here’s what they have planned.

Will you step up to support New Times this year?

We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to you. If New Times matters to you, please take action and contribute today, so when news happens, our reporters can be there.

$30,000

The Western will be turned into a “barcade” called The King that will combine “classic arcade game play with cool tunes, low-cost beverages and comfort food.” The King will aim to offer guests “an unpretentious, real-deal neighborhood bar-and-grill feel” and is expected to open by late June.

Woodbury and Levy are the same duo behind several other popular Valley concepts including The Vig, Crescent Ballroom and Little Woody.

And even without The Western, they should have their hands pretty full with opening several other new concepts including a new location of the Vig in McCormick Ranch and two new concepts, The Beverly and Linger Longer Lounge.

For more information about the launch of Scottsdale’s first barcade visit The King Facebook.
