Sazerac
If there’s one downtown bar that consistently shows off Phoenix’s particular brand of diversity, it’s this come-as-you-are hotspot with a charming split personality. Inside: a rich wood interior, a stocked liquor selection, a phalanx of tap beers, a cigar menu dozens deep, slyly sexy pink-and-purple lighting, and at different times of the week DJs, dancing and karaoke. Outside: a sprawling patio with its own bar, a 4.6-star-on-Google taco truck, tall tables galore and lots of shaded nooks for at least an illusion of privacy. But you’re really here to mingle. The clientele here tends to split equally between folks who probably identify as straight and those who fly some form of Pride flag. You’re about as likely to encounter recent ASU grads, a bachelorette party, a 30th birthday crowd or salt-and-pepper dudes in suits chomping stogies. They’re all getting rowdy without getting messy, under the glow of flattering lighting.
