Valley Bar

Walking down the inconspicuous alley off Central Avenue to get to Valley Bar for the first time may incite a feeling of dread. Where is Google Maps taking me? What’s that liquid? Why does it smell like that? But we promise, it’s worth the adventure. Lean in. Once bar-goers reach the back entrance and descend down the long set of stairs, they’re immediately met with great energy from this basement bar. Customers can order a cheap beer or mixed drinks, including menu options named after Arizona politicians, at the circular bar. Just above the bar, a hanging mobile tells the story of the iconic Phoenix trunk murderess, Winnie Ruth Judd. Drink in hand, bargoers can make their way to the dance floor, where a variety of DJs and musicians play sets throughout the weekend, or find themselves in the Rose Room playing skeeball, pool or shuffleboard.
