Some fans were probably already on their way down to Footprint Center for the highly anticipated Jeff Lynne’s ELO concert when the announcement came in.
“Due to an illness in the band, Jeff Lynne’s ELO unfortunately will have to reschedule tonight’s show in Phoenix at Footprint Center. The rescheduled date is Tuesday, October 29th,” the venue reported on its social media accounts. “Jeff and the band have loved being back on stage and are so sorry to disappoint the fans, they are looking forward to seeing everyone in Phoenix next Tuesday. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new date. Any ticket holders who purchased via Ticketmaster will be emailed directly, please connect with your original point of purchase for more info.”
Comments on Footprint Center’s Facebook post ranged from sympathetic to outraged.
One poster commented, “I’m so sad. See you next week. Get well soon.” Another wrote, “I’m pissed – this could have and should have been cancelled much earlier for those who were driving 2-3 hours for show!”
At least one fan took the news in stride and wrote, “Watching Youtube performances of ELO and having some cocktails. Making the best of it. Sorry for those who traveled so far. Get better soon!!â¤ï¸”
