Last month, we announced a contest calling for photographers to nominate themselves for the title of best concert photographer in Phoenix. Now, 46 entries, later, our panel of five judges has narrowed the field down to 10 finalists.

Judges included three New Times employees — Art Director Peter Storch, Layout Editor Evie Carpenter, and Music Editor David Accomazzo — and two photographers, nightlife photo pro Jeremiah Toller and all-around brilliant photographer Dane Cronin, who’s based in Colorado. Each judged browsed through more than 400 photos from 46 photographers — all anonymized — and voted for their 10 favorite submissions. We’ve tallied the results, and the finalists are below, in no particular order.

The quality of the submissions was incredibly high, and judging was insanely difficult. In the next few weeks, we will introduce you to each photographer and give you a peek of the photos that swayed our judges into voting for them. We will then open the floor to a vote, and our readership will decide who to crown the best photographer in Phoenix. So for now, feel free to browse their respective portfolios, and stay tuned for more to come.
