Weirdly, yes.Around 11:25 p.m., a 21-year-old man named Cole Nenon showed up carrying multiple guns, according to police. Nenon was apparently told by a relative, erroneously, that there was an active shooter at the airport, prompting him to come with weapons to the airport. Police said he “handed his firearms to other individuals at the airport before he approached an officer who was posted just outside the shooting scene.”
After an altercation with officers in which police said he struck and spat on one, Nenon was wrestled to the ground and arrested. The Arizona Republic published pictures of Nenon being escorted by police while he is shirtless, barefoot and handcuffed. Police said they recovered three firearms.
Police have charged him with aggravated assault on an officer.
