Is Republican Congresxsman Trent Franks addressing the issues most important to this country?
Of the eight bills he’s proposed this session, three are abortion-related, one prevents the Tohono O’odham Nation from building a casino, one would “celebrat[e] the life of President Ronald Wilson Reagan on the anniversary of his birth,” and another declares “Obamacare” unconstitutional — real high priority stuff.

Franks recently announced his intentions for that eighth bill, to ban abortions past 20 weeks of a woman’s pregnancy.
Will you step up to support New Times this year?
At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $17,250 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
Of course, Franks is perhaps best known for going on and on, and on (and on, and on, and on) about abortion, endlessly proposing bills that never, ever pass.
After being in Congress for more than a decade, he’s never seen a single one of his bills signed into law.
Even one-term Congressman Ben Quayle got a bill onto President Obama’s desk (and he signed it, too).
Our question this morning: would you be embarrassed to have Franks as your representative to Congress?
