Like most holidays, 420 is replete with food traditions and tropes – albeit often unsatisfying convenience store or drive-thru fare.

But it doesn't have to be that way if you plan ahead even slightly. For this year’s big cannabis celebration, treat yourself at one of these 10 places around the Valley when the munchies inevitably strike, whether or not they're marijuana-related.

ATL Wings

Multiple Locations
This family-owned wing spot has 16 locations around the Valley that serve dry-rubbed and sauced wings. In the past, ATL Wings has taken over the kitchen at The Mint Cafe, tossing flats and drums with Angry Errl, Mint Cafe’s line of THC-infused hot sauces. You won't find infused sauces at ATL Wings on April 20, but try the red hot or barbecue sauces on your wings or tenders. ATL Wings also serves sandwiches, deep-fried biscuits with honey and Kool-Aid.

Ziggy’s Magic Pizza Shop

401 W. Van Buren St.
Ziggy’s Magic Pizza Shop and its sister pinball-themed bar Stardust Pinbar take their interstellar vibe from “Starman” David Bowie. Stop in at the retro New York-style pizzeria for large slices, whole pies, wings, sandwiches and garlic knots. If you’re looking to keep your stoner eats on brand, try the Maui Waui, with tomato sauce, pineapple, bacon, ham and mozzarella. Shake off your impending food coma at Stardust by playing classic pinball machines or taking a spin on the illuminated disco dancefloor.

Before you head out, be sure to check online for each location's 420 plans – with the day also falling on Easter, some stores will shift festivities to Saturday.

Cookie Plug

Cookie Plug

4575 E. Cactus Road, #135
The SoCal-based, '90s hip-hop-inspired bakery Cookie Plug descended on the Valley last year. The baked goods are described as a combination of a cookie, brownie and cake, all rolled into one “fat stack.” Its menu includes classic versions such as chocolate chip and snickerdoodle, along with more inventive riffs, including a cookie made with Fruity Pebbles cereal or the Purple Haze, a violet-hued cookie with white chocolate chips. In addition to picking up your treats in-store, Cookie Plug offers delivery.

Ike’s Love & Sandwiches

Multiple locations
Ike’s Love & Sandwiches has a special 420-inspired stacker, the Munchie Melt, available at its 12 Valley locations for a limited time. The sandwich is made on the chain’s Dutch crunch bread, a white roll with a crusty top. It’s layered with roast beef and melty layers of all six cheeses available – cheddar, American, pepper jack, Swiss, gouda and provolone. The stacker is finished with honey, barbecue sauce and Ike’s Dirty Sauce, a garlic aioli. The Munchi Melt is a collab with Weedmaps – the tool that may have helped you order the goods that sparked your munchies.
