The Gilbert location of Lo-Lo's Chicken & Waffles has "closed forever," according to a post on its social media pages.

Located on Gilbert Road just north of Vaughn Avenue, the restaurant opened in February 2015. But now, the eatery, known for its crispy fried chicken, Southern staples and colorful cocktails, has served its last heaping plates of waffles.

"Our 10yr lease in Gilbert, AZ comes to an end at the end of this month & we ain't renewing," the announcement on social media explains.

Sunday was the restaurant's official last day.

Lolo's was founded by Larry "Lo-Lo" White in 2002. White is the grandson of Elizabeth White, the proprietor of the legendary Mrs. White's Golden Rule Cafe. Larry White put a modern spin on his family's home cooking with his restaurants, which offer all-day breakfast, chicken and waffles served in many different combinations and Southern classics such as shrimp and grits, fried catfish and fried green tomatoes.

Over the years, the original restaurant expanded to include locations around the Valley and the Southwest. So for Gilbert fans, there are places to turn for your fried chicken fix.

"We still going strong in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Las Vegas & Dallas/Grapevine TX," the social media post said. "But Gilbert has ran it's course."
