The team behind some of Phoenix's buzziest restaurants and bars, including Japanese steakhouse Pyro and downtown oasis Palma, has turned their attention to the East Valley. Flagship Restaurant Group is set to bring three concepts to downtown Gilbert’s Heritage Park.

The hospitality group has leased 14,000 square feet of space for the three yet-to-be-disclosed spots. They are the first tenant announced to be part of Heritage Park, a 10-acre development located at Gilbert Road and Juniper Avenue led by Crescent Communities and Creation.

Creation co-founder David Sellers noted his excitement of Flagship joining Heritage Park, saying in the release that the group's "innovative concepts and dedication to quality will elevate the dining and social experiences in the East Valley."

“At Creation, we take pride in our longstanding commitment to enhancing Downtown Gilbert with distinctive projects that enrich the community,” Sellers said. “Heritage Park builds on our years of work in the neighborhood, creating a central space that reflects Gilbert’s character and brings people together.”

Flagship is an Omaha, Nebraska-based group whose other Valley restaurants and bars are Palma’s downtown Phoenix neighbors, bougie bowling alley Châm Pang Lanes and the pink-hued agaveria Ghost Donkey. The trio of Roosevelt Row spots opened in 2022. That was followed by Pyro, a sleek Japanese-inspired live-fire restaurant in Arcadia, which opened in November 2023.

The hospitality group operates other restaurants around the country, largely concentrated in Nebraska and Texas, which range from sushi and seafood restaurants to beer bars and food halls. With an array of restaurants and bars in their portfolio, it's not yet clear which will be chosen for Gilbert.

The phased development at Heritage Park will include 47,000 square feet of shops and restaurants, along with 288 residences and amenities that include public art and bike paths. A 125-room hotel and office space are part of plans, according to the release.

“Our goal is to create a destination that enhances the community, serving as a dynamic hub for social and economic activity in the East Valley, and we’re looking forward to contributing to the growth and vitality of this thriving region throughout the coming years,” Crescent Communities managing director Sagar Rathie said in the release.

While an opening timeline has not been disclosed, the release notes that groundbreaking on the development is anticipated for early 2025.
