Prince St. Pizza began in New York City in 2012. It's known for its signature Sicilian SoHo Square slices and Neapolitan-style pizzas. The famous Spicy Spring slice topped with diavolo sauce, cup and char pepperoni, fresh mozzarella and Pecorino Romano is a viral sensation.
The flavors are inspired by the motto of “if you can put it on pasta, you can put it on pizza,” according to the company's website. The Sicilian slices feature a thick, fluffy crust and flavors include the Naughty Pie with spicy vodka sauce, pepperoni and hot honey and the Meatlovers, with pepperoni, sausage and bacon.
The thin-crust Neapolitan-style pies come with classic and unique toppings, with options including the Green Machine with pesto and black olives and the Oakey Smokey with smoked mozzarella.
Since making its Big Apple debut, the company has expanded to open 15 locations around the U.S. and Canada. To create the same dough texture and taste that customers enjoy on the streets of New York, the company uses a water filtration system to adjust the minerality to replicate the city's famous water.
In Tempe, the new restaurant will take over the former home of Jimmy John's on Mill Avenue between Sixth and Seventh streets. The 1,329-square-foot space will serve whole pies and pizza by the slice. Vegan and gluten-free options will also be available, along with desserts such as Italian Rainbow Cake and New York Cheesecake.
