Located on the corner of 40th Street and Indian School Road, Eat Up Drive In typically has a line of cars waiting to order chicken sandwiches and baked potatoes.

But the drive-thru lane is empty after a fire on Sunday closed the restaurant. According to an announcement made by the company on social media and on its website, Eat Up is "closed for the foreseeable future."

Eat Up is owned by Jocque Concepts, the group behind Hot Chick, The Montauk and Diego Pops in Scottsdale. The fast-casual Arcadia eatery opened in May 2021 and has been a popular spot to grab a quick bite ever since. Customers could pick up their food at the drive-thru, eat inside the small dining room area or at a picnic table on the patio.

The restaurant served individual and family-style meals with chicken, steak, shrimp or short rib and a choice of two sides. Sandwiches, wraps, loaded baked potatoes, soups and salads made up the rest of the menu. Some of the menu items, such as the Hot Chick Sandwich, pulled from the owners other full-service eateries.

On Sunday night, a fire broke out at the restaurant. Videos of the blaze show flames engulfing the building's roof with black smoke billowing into the dusky sky.

According to the company, everyone was able to get out safely and no one was hurt. The cause of the fire is under investigation and it is unclear when the restaurant may be able to reopen.
