The all-day eatery by the prolific restaurateur Sam Fox has garnered devotees of its New American cuisine, served in a chic, comfortable dining room and casual coffee bar since 2013. Despite its popularity — and other locations in California, Texas and Florida — The Henry had just one Arizona restaurant.
“We’re pleased to bring The Henry experience to such an iconic spot in Phoenix,” Fox said in a press release announcing the opening date. “From early-morning espresso runs and afternoon business lunches to late-night martinis with friends, we want everyone to feel at home any time of day.”
The Henry’s arrival has been anticipated since Fox’s restaurant group announced the second location in November. The Henry Uptown sits at the northeast corner of Central Avenue and Camelback Road. It joins a collection of food and drink options at the historic shopping plaza including sibling Fox concept Flower Child, the recently opened Dynamite Beer Co., local favorite Chula Seafood and outposts of national chains such as Shake Shack.
The Uptown restaurant is moving into a newly constructed building that replaced an Applebee's. The new space features Gatsby-era-inspired decor, including a dining room filled with leather banquettes, marble-topped tables and tufted chairs. Outside, guests will feel warmth from a patio fireplace.
Diners can expect menu staples from the Arcadia location of The Henry, including its quinoa breakfast bowl, hot honey crispy chicken sandwich, and dinner entrees such as its classic roasted chicken and seared ahi tuna. This outpost will also feature an outdoor coffee window for ordering lattes and pastries. The uptown location will feature a more expansive bar featuring a wider selection of cocktails and wine.
The restaurant will donate 30% of opening-day sales to Make-A-Wish, which facilitates wishes for children with critical illnesses.
The Fox team is eager to establish its Uptown location as another local staple.
“In the same way our Arcadia restaurant has become woven into the fabric of the community, we envision The Henry Uptown as a gathering place for the Uptown Phoenix neighborhood and beyond,” Fox said in the release.
