Goodyear will soon welcome its first location of Trader Joe's, along with its signature quick and easy frozen meals, fresh flowers, seasonal treats and affordable wine.
The new store will be part of GSQ, the over 150-acre mixed-use development on McDowell Road and 150th Drive from RED Development and Globe Corp. Within the development, Trader Joe's is set to open a 13,500-square-foot store.
“We’ve worked closely with Trader Joe’s for years to make this a reality for Goodyear, and we’re proud to see it come to fruition at GSQ,” Mike Ebert, managing partner at RED Development, said in a news release.
That excitement is shared by the city as well.
“Goodyear couldn’t be more thrilled that Trader Joe’s has chosen to come to our great city,” said Mayor Joe Pizzillo. “This really is a dream come true for so many of our residents who’ve been asking for this unique grocer for many, many years. It’ll be located in the heart of our growing downtown and will be the perfect addition."
GSQ was designed to complement Goodyear Civic Square and become the city's new downtown hub. The development includes restaurants, stores, apartments, hotels and office space. So far, open concepts include BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse, Copper & Sage, Over Easy, Shake Shack and more.
The next phase of the development includes Trader Joe's and will also bring Black Rock Coffee Bar and Firebirds Wood Fired Grill to the area.
“This is the kind of project where every tenant contributes to something greater and is a true destination that reflects the community’s energy and momentum," Ebert said. "The addition of Trader Joe’s and these renowned restaurants reflects not only the market's strength, but Goodyear's vibrant energy and the distinct sense of place we’re creating at GSQ.”
The new restaurants are slated to open in 2026. An opening date for Trader Joe's has not yet been released.
