Keep Phoenix New Times Free
We’re aiming to raise $10,000 by April 26. Your support ensures New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
The controversial CityScape, located at Central Avenue and Washington Street, is the City of Phoenix’s latest attempt at solidifying the downtown core as a place that people want to be. CityScape’s Grand Opening will be a good opportunity to party up with its cheerleaders and keeping-your-enemies-close skeptics. Festivities include “The World’s Biggest Coffee Break” at 8 a.m. and the dedication of the downsized Patriots Square Park at 10 a.m. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., “A Taste of CityScape” promises free food and beverages from resident eateries. The evening kicks off the complex’s first First Friday and is capped by Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Macy Gray.
