As old school comedian George Gobel joked, “If it weren’t for electricity, we’d all be watching television by candlelight.” Thus, the dilemma of what to do during the occasional blackout. Downtown Phoenix stalwarts, Backwards Theater, make good with battery-operated illumination during their show.

In Flashlight, the experimental theater performance revolves around the namesake emergency device and uses only light from said artifact. We can’t wait for performance pieces in a subdued mood and the spooky stories that get spookier when the shadows come out to play.
