Beer fests are cool and all, but why they’ve become synonymous with “Let’s get fucking loaded, buddy, and embarrass the entire human race by acting like an ill-mannered ass clown” is beyond our comprehension.
If you’re looking for some fun times at a beer blowout minus the general douchelordery, hit up Bloomin’ Beerfest at Irish Cultural Center. The third annual festival of suds is a sophisticated celebration – we don’t expect anyone to piss his or her pants at this one – that “combines the fine old Irish tradition of Bloomsday with the fine new American tradition of a beer tasting.” The shindig will also feature a 105th anniversary celebration of Leopold Bloom’s fictional journey through the streets of Dublin in the James Joyce novel Ulysses.
