Lindsay Key was gunned down outside of a house party in Chandler in December of 2006. Two suspected gang members, Rodrigo Romero and Francisco Cervantes, were arrested late last year and charged in the murder. Chandler cops announced today that two more suspects are in custody.
On Friday, police arrested 22-year-old Andres Fraire, of Chandler, and 24-year-old Leonardo Sanchez, of Apache Junction on charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in the death of Key. Police say more charges are expected.
Key was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting near Arizona Avenue and Erie Street in Chandler on December 3, 2006.
Chandler cops got word that Romero had an argument with members of a
rival gang just an hour before the drive-by occurred -- less than a mile
from where Key was shot.
During the argument, Romero is believed to have pulled out a gun and threatened the gangsters, but didn't fire.
After the argument, police say the men fighting with Romero went to a
house where Key was visiting a friend and, within an hour, the drive-by
occurred.
Key had no affiliation with either gang.
All suspects have been charged with first-degree murder, and other gang-related crimes.
Police say tips from Silent Witness and tips from the public are what
led detectives to Fraire and Sanchez. Police say there may still be
additional suspects and encourage anyone with information in the
shooting to call the Chandler Police Department at 480-782-4130.
