If you'd told us three months ago that a candidate for any office in any galaxy in the universe would want Arizona Governor Jan Brewer's endorsement, we'd have said that the candidate was trying to lose the election.
Things have changed for Jan (who earlier this year was one of the most unpopular politicians within her own party in the entire country) -- much thanks to her signing SB 1070 and the passage of Prop 100.
In fact, Jan's gotten so popular among GOPers that Republican candidates in other parts of the country are welcoming her endorsement as if she were -- dare we say it -- Sarah Palin.
Today, Brewer endorsed former Georgia Secretary of State and gubernatorial candidate Karen Handel -- and Handel is lovin' her some Jan.
"I am humbled and excited by Governor Brewer's support," Handel says today. "She has become an inspiration to conservatives and represents the new kind of leadership that we need across the country. She stood firm and pushed forward with the nation's toughest law to fight illegal immigration, and she'll stand firm against the Obama Administration, too. She also made the hard decisions and cut Arizona's budget to align with today's economic realities. She is a conservative hero, and I thank her for her strong support and friendship."
Brewer's new-found popularity even caused Scott Rasmussen to plant the seed that Brewer could potentially be a presidential candidate by pitting her against Barack Obama in a presidential race in a recent, hypothetical poll.
Brewer came away with 39 percent of the vote to Obama's 44 percent, but the fact that she's even discussed as a hypothetical candidate for the most powerful office in the world is probably a little frightening for political lefties.
