Party people of the Valley, prepare yourselves. This year, Independence Day falls on a Friday, which means you’ve got a three-day weekend at your disposal.

What’s there to do? Plenty, if you’re into star-spangled pool parties, high-energy nightlife or special holiday events.

Fireworks won’t be the only thing getting lit over the July 4 weekend. Scottsdale spots like Maya and the W hotel will have DJs and fun in the sun. Meanwhile, Tempe and downtown Phoenix will host club events.

Maya, 7333 E. Indian Plaza, ScottsdaleMaya’s holiday weekend festivities kickoff with a night swim session and a poolside performance by European-born house music DJ/producer San Pacho on Independence Day eve. Doors open at 9 p.m. Tickets start at $29.72 (fees included).

W Scottsdale Hotel, 7277 E. Camelback Road, ScottsdaleStylish pool parties will take place on the hotel’s second floor WET Deck daily with DJs, drinks and dancing. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. General admission tickets are $50 and table service packages start at $1,000.

Goldwater Blvd., ScottsdaleSpend you holiday at this Vegas-style pool party at Cleopatra’s Beach Club from noon to 6 p.m. The high-style event will feature open format DJs in the mix, cocktails and other poolside perks. Expect “weird hijinks,” spooky surprises, and a live recording of the locally produced podcast Scaredycast. 4th of July Pool Party

Broadstone Portland, 320 E. Portland St.Social Unity Events will host a holiday pool party at the Broadstone. Local DJs will provide the soundtrack and free food will be served. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12.51 to $23.18.

Harold’s Cave Creek Coral, 6895 E. Cave Creek Road, Cave CreekDance lessons, giveaways, a hot dog-eating contest and live entertainment are planned at this Independence Day celebration. Drink specials will also be available. The shindig starts at 2 p.m. No cover.
