Local chain Harkins Theatres is kicking off a Director Spotlight Series with several weeks of screenings.
First up is Quentin Tarantino, the movie store clerk turned auteur who burst onto the scene more than 30 years ago with "Reservoir Dogs."
From March 15 to April 2, select Harkins Theatres locations will screen six of Tarantino's most iconic films. Each screening is only $5, or moviegoers can get a Tarantino Spotlight Series Pass for $25, which includes all six titles. As an added bonus, Harkins Awards Members who get the pass will receive a $5 bonus award.
Each participating theater will feature the following films on a rotating schedule on Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays:
- "Reservoir Dogs" (1992): A jewelry store heist goes horribly wrong, and the survivors discover a traitor in their midst.
- "Pulp Fiction" (1994): Four interconnected stories about the Los Angeles underworld.
- "Inglourious Basterds" (2009): A squad of Jewish-American soldiers take aim at killing Hitler and the Nazi high command.
- "Django Unchained" (2012): An escaped slave and a bounty hunter devise a plan to free the slave's wife from a brutal owner.
- "The Hateful Eight" (2015): Tensions arise when a group of strangers are snowed in at a remote stagecoach stop in post-Civil War Wyoming.
- "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" (2019): An actor and his best friend/stunt double adapt to changes in the 1960s film industry. And then the Manson family shows up.
